STAFF and customers at an Alloa supermarket came together at the weekend to mark the store's 20th birthday.

Morrisons opened in 1998 and marked two decades of shopping with a fun day on Saturday, September 15.

There were raffles, tombolas, a bouncy castle, gladiator fights, face painting and even a disco for the wee ones to keep everyone busy.

A burger and ice cream van helped keep people fed and refreshed while money was also being collected for the store’s charity partner CLIC Sargent.

Shoppers from Alloa and beyond took advantage of the event, which helped to brighten up the usual weekend shopping trip.

Colleagues Janet Lennon and Beth McIntosh, members of staff who have been there since opening day, cut the birthday cake at 12noon on the day to symbolically open the store once again.

Lorraine Glaister, one of the many staff helping out, was given a nod of thanks for throwing herself into the organisation of the event and for giving up her free time to make it a success.

It was a real team effort, however, with many others working extra or coming in on a day off to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Store management wanted to thank all the colleagues for making the fun day happen as well as the community for going along and joining in.
