A SAUCHIE mum is appealing for help to track down the person that smashed up her car over the weekend.

Victoria McLaren, 27, says she and her partner woke up on Monday, September 24 and discovered their car had been vandalised during the night.

She told the Advertiser: "On Sunday night my partner went out for dinner and when he came back there was no parking spaces.

"In Ten Acres where we live there is a farm road so he parked in a layby there and left it overnight.

"Then when he went to take the kids to school the next day the car was completely vandalised."

Victoria said she heard people making noises outside during the night, which may have had something to do with the incident.

She added: "On Sunday I was up late studying and could hear someone outside, drunk and loudly shouting.

"I heard glass smash but it didn't sound like a car, more like a bottle so I just thought it was someone's drinks bottle smashing.

"I didn't think anything more of it until I woke up and the car was trashed."

The car's back window was completely shattered, the front window was badly cracked, and there were dents on the body.

Victoria contacted police, but several days on it is still not clear who was responsible for the damage.

In the meantime, Victoria says the repair costs are eating into the money she could be spending on her young children.

She said: "This has happened right before our little boy's birthday, and not far from Christmas, so could have been money spent on our babies."

Now, she is appealing for anyone who may know who is responsible to come forward.

She said: "I'm just trying to reach out to see if someone's heard something - they might know who it is that's done this.

"Or maybe someone's bragged about it and someone has heard them."

A police spokesperson confirmed: "This incident was reported to us on the morning of Monday September 24, having happened sometime overnight.

"A Dacia Sandero sustained damage to its rear window and inquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.

"Anyone with information is asked to come forward and quote incident number 739 of September 24."
