A FORMER Dollar pupil helped bring the streets of Stirling to life last month.

Anya McCrimmon, who studied at the academy, sang and played her guitar at a number of venues as part of the Animating Our Streets event.

It was organised by the city’s Go Forth Stirling business improvement district and sought to entertain shoppers with art and music.

One of the key attractions included interactive cube art installations dotted throughout the city, which people could draw and write on.

Anya played outside Europa Music, which also originates from the Wee County, as well as at the Kilted Kangaroo pub and in Stirling Arcade over the weekend of September 22 and 23.

She said: “I liked the atmosphere in Stirling over the festival weekend – people were stopping to look at the cubes and enjoy the music.

“It brought more people than usual into the arcade and after drawing on the cube and listening to music for a while they went off to browse the shops which was good to see.”

Mia McGregor, who was behind the 1x1m cube art installations, added: “It was an amazing weekend and all the cubes are completely covered.

"A lot of people were going around the city to find all eight so they could put their mark on every one.

“Lots of people got involved – we had a complete range of ages and completely different art work on each cube.”
