SCOTRAIL is promising faster journeys for Alloa commuters come December following electrification works.
The introduction of class 385 electric trains on the Stirling-Dunblane-Alloa line towards Glasgow should reduce travel time by around five minutes, according to the service operator.
The new carriages will also come with more seats and timetable changes should start from Sunday, December 9.
Alex Hynes, managing director of the ScotRail Alliance, said: “The improvements we are making to our timetable from December mean ScotRail has reached another milestone as we build the best railway Scotland has ever had.
“This is just the first phase of the work we are doing to deliver for our customers over the next year.
“The investment the ScotRail Alliance is making to electrify more lines and introduce new and upgraded trains means we will deliver faster journeys, more seats, and more services for our customers.”
ScotRail also says that rail journeys in “key locations” will now be “considerably faster” than by car.
Further timetable improvements are planned for next May and December.
