A THIEF raided one car and attempted to raid another in Menstrie during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A car was broken into in the Blackthorn Grove area, and there was an attempted break-in on another car in the Birch Grove area.

Police were alerted to the incidents, which are being treated as linked, at around 12.30AM on October 2.

They have now appealed for help to find the suspect. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Forth Valley Police are investigating a theft from a vehicle in Menstrie.

“A man was seen near the vehicle. He is described as tall and thin, wearing a red and blue raincoat, dark cargo trousers and carrying a rucksack.

“Police are also investigating a report of an attempted theft involving a vehicle in the Birch Grove area of the town around the same time. They are being treated as linked.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0059 of 02 October. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
