FIREWORKS displays in the Wee County have been postponed to Sunday due to a weather warning forecasting heavy rain.

Sparks in the Park in Alloa, organised by Alloa Round Table, as well as the Dollar Fireworks Display, put on by Dollar Community Council, were both due to go ahead tomorrow (Saturday November 3), but will now instead be held the day after (Sunday, November 4).

Both decisions came as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for rain for the whole of Saturday.

“Heavy and persistent rain lasting much of the day” is expected with the potential of some traffic disruption.

It is understood it will be the same times for both events: gates to the West End Park in Alloa will open at 6pm while the spectacular at New Field in Dollar goes up at 6.30pm prompt.

A social media post from Sparks in the Park said the forecast conditions would mean it “would be unsafe for the public to be outdoors and fireworks would not be fired”.

And added: “The weather forecast for Sunday is to be a much better day making it [the] best choice.

“We appreciate that this may inconvenience some people so we do apologise for that and hope you'll be able to join us on the Sunday.

“All E tickets will be valid on the Sunday.

“We appreciate the support you guys give the event and look forward to seeing you all on the Sunday.”

A post from Dollar Community Council said: “Due to the weather forecast for Saturday the decision has been made to postpone the Dollar Fireworks until Sunday.

“Timings will remain the same on Sunday. Please spread the word. Thank you.”
