THERE is an open invite for Alloa Art Club’s next workshop with music-loving artist Nikki Monaghan.
Following on from a delightful experience with local artist Karen Strang, who took members back to the basics with oils, the club will be holding the workshop next Monday, November 12.
It will take place at Resonate Arts House on North Castle Street – arrive at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start, finish at 9pm.
At the age of 17, when attending a college lecturer’s exhibition, Nikki had a light-bulb moment.
She said: “I remember thinking: 'Wow, people actually paint, exhibit, and sell their work'.”
And with that, Nikki went from a jewellery course at Falkirk Technical College to Galashiels to study at the Scottish College of Textiles.
Anyone looking to go along are asked to bring acrylic paints, inks, oil pastels, brushes and a small canvas board if possible
Some kit will be available for those still developing a passion for art.
Plans are to work on a small painting on the night, taking inspiration from the season.
She will demonstrate, using a range of techniques, how she achieves texture within her work.
The session is £5 and pre-booking is essential by emailing derenzalloa@gmail.com or by texting 07896 992 248.
