PUPILS from Banchory PS organised a community clear up initiative at the Braes woodland area close to Lornshill Academy recently.
During an initial site visit from the Grounds for Learning team, making more use of this local woodland area was one of the recommended action points to improve outdoor learning opportunities for children and the young people.
The task was to prepare this area for more frequent visits for learners in all weathers.
With permission from the landowner, and with litter pickers and bags supplied from the council, the children and local community got stuck in to clearing the area up.
Gemma Kennedy, head teacher, said: "Fantastic community spirit was shown during our community clear up at the local woods.
"We are planning to use this space much more as we develop our approaches to outdoor learning and are extremely grateful to everyone that came along to support the school."
