EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the 5th annual Light Up Clackmannan Christmas celebrations this weekend.

The festivities will kick start in Clackmannan Town Hall at 3pm on Sunday, November 25, where there will be a variety of Christmas craft stalls featuring some quality craft items.

Traders will be selling products such as handmade jewellery, Christmas wreaths, knits, toys, festive treats and more.

To add to the atmosphere for the shoppers there will be a dance performance by local dance school – Just Dance, along with face painting and glitter tattoos from Party Face Painting.

After perusing the craft stalls, guests can take a seat in the Craigrie room and enjoy a bowl of delicious fresh soup and scones prepared by Bargains & Bites volunteers before popping into the elf workshop to do some arts and crafts.

Children will also have a chance to meet Father Christmas in his grotto in the Bruce lounge to tell them their Christmas wishes.

Fuzzy the juggler will also be wowing the crowds on Main Street with some circus tricks and will bring along his glow in the dark penny farthing too.

At 6pm, locals will make their way from the Town Hall onto the Main Street to enjoy some traditional music from Clackmannan & Tulliallan Pipe Band and Clackmannan Brass Band Ensemble.

They will lead the way to the Tolbooth for some festive carol singing with the Clackmannan Parish Church choir and brass band ahead of the Christmas lights being turned on by the communities’ chosen local hero and a sing-song with Clackmannan Primary School’s Glee club.

Lesley Shaw, community development officer, said: “This is the 5th year of Light Up Clackmannan and it has become a real favourite of with the locals.

"It’s a great occasion to bring everyone together and celebrate this special time of year. We hope that you will come and join us.”
