IT'S beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Alloa, as the town gears up for a weekend of festive fun.

Events will kick off in the town centre on Saturday morning, with a funfair on Mill Street set to open at 11am.

There will also be on-stage entertainment on High Street, from groups like the Alloa Musical Players and Forefront Stage School, starting at 1pm.

The two events are part of the Christmas Tree Light Switch On, which will run from 1pm to 5pm in the town – and both are free for the public to attend.

On the same day, Santa's Grotto – which was set up in the local Bicycle and Model Shop on Mill Street early last week – will also open.

The grotto will run from 10am until 4pm every Saturday, giving kids the chance to meet Santa, pick up presents, and post Christmas letters ahead of the big day on December 25.

Entry to the grotto will cost £3, with funds raised going to meet the cost of next year's Christmas events.

The festive events on November 24 have been organised by Alloa First (AF) – formerly known as Alloa Business Improvement District.

AF are encouraging any local groups keen to get involved in the events on Saturday to get in touch – as they would like as many people involved as possible.
