THE Wee County is fast becoming a prestigious wedding destination, as more award nominations flood in for venues and business.

With the seventh annual Scottish Wedding Awards just around the corner, it has been announced that nine nominations have been made for Clacks wedding-related businesses.

Leading the way once again is Inglewood House which comes in with two nominations.

The luxury hotel has this year been nominated in the Wedding Venue of the year and Romantic Venue categories.

Steven Campbell, who works at the hotel, said the nominations came as a surprise to them.

He said: “We were amazed to find out that we have been announced as finalists for both the Romantic Wedding Venue of the Year and Wedding Venue of the Year at The Scottish Wedding Awards 2019.

“I have to say a massive thank you to all the brides and grooms who nominated us for the awards and to our fantastic team who have worked incredibly hard this year to create our fairy tale weddings.”

There are two Wee County florists vying for title of Wedding Florist of the year as Alloa’s Flowers by Arrangement will go head to head with The Flower Studio, Sauchie.

Sarah, from the Flower Studio, told the Advertiser: “I am thrilled to be nominated for the second year running.

"I only started up my own business two years ago so being nominated is a great achievement. Fingers are crossed for a win this year.”

Rhona McCallum Hair, based in Alloa, is once again nominated for Hair and Makeup Salon of the year after picking up the gong last year.

There are also nominations for Alloa-based Party People in the Event Decorator category; Escoffiers Catering from Alloa for caterer of the year; and Eden Rose Design Studio for stationary supplier of the year.

Claire McMillan, owner of Eden Rose Design Studio, said the decision to quit her job and start the company has paid off.

She said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been nominated for stationery supplier of the year. In 2017 I decided to leave my job as a Graphic Designer to pursue my dreams of running my own business.

“A nomination like this is the icing on the cake for what has been an exciting year.”

Alva’s ButterCream Dream has been nominated for Cake Designer of the year.

It is the third year in a row that the company has been nominated, and one of the owners, Carolyn, hope to be successful this time.

She wrote on the company’s Facebook page: “I am absolutely delighted to have this chance again to come together with a room full of amazing suppliers in every category.

“I would like to take this chance to thank each and everyone of you that took time out of your day to vote for me.”

The awards, which take place on Monday, February 25 at The Crowne Plaza in Glasgow, will also feature 11 nominees from Stirling and eight from Falkirk.
