THE Wee County is set to be hit with blizzards and ice this weekend with a weather warning already in place.

The Met Office has warned that the majority of Scotland is set to face heavy snow and blizzards from midday on Saturday until at least Sunday morning.

A yellow warning has been put in place by the Met Office which means there will likely be delays or cancellations to public transport.

They are also warning that the weather could leave people stranded on roads, so to use caution when making certain journeys.

It is advised that anyone planning on travelling over the weekend regularly check with service providers to see if making the journey is necessary.

Also expected is freezing rain, meaning roads and pavements will likely be slippery afterwards.
