THE Tillicoultry Primary School parent council raised a phenomenal amount at the Christmas fayre which was held last week.

Held on Friday, December 7, the fayre attracted more than 200 people and raised in excess of £1,200 which will go towards various causes within the school.

After changing from the usual Saturday to Friday, the event was a huge success as parents and children alike enjoyed browsing various stalls, some from within the community and some set up by the pupils and teachers.

Katie Moran, one of the head fundraisers, told the Advertiser that everyone had a great day.

She said: “It was a really good busy afternoon. We don’t have exact numbers yet but there was over 200 people through the door.

"There were a number of external stalls including selling hair products, bric-a-brac, Christmas crafts and a bouncy castle.”

Every class in the school also made different items to sell at their own stalls, including Christmas baubles and decorations.

There was also a tombola with prizes for children and adults alike with everything donated by people from the community, as well as a teddy tombola, which is when everyone brings in their excess teddy bears and anyone who buys a ticket gets one.

Katie went on to say that Santa’s grotto was also available thanks to the Rotary Club of Alloa who helped them out last minute with Santa.

She wished to thank the Co-op for providing all the refreshments and to everyone who contributed to the tombola prizes.
