MORE than 100 seniors from Clackmannan, Kennet and Forestmill were treated to a Christmas lunch last week.

Organised by Clackmannan Community Council, the event took place last Wednesday, December 12, with the festive season in full swing across the Wee County.

The 113 senior citizens enjoyed a meal provided by Ochil Caterers at Clackmannan Town Hall, which saw a fantastic Christmas atmosphere on the day.

Tables were decorated to reflect the Twelve Days of Christmas theme selected for the event.

Proceedings were kickstarted with young people from Clackmannan Primary School Glee Club performing for those gathered in the hall.

The tunes got everyone into the spirit of things and was followed up by a performance from 14-year-old Ross on bagpipes.

Entertainment came from local singer Kirsty Docherty who delighted the audience with a mix of old popular songs, festive favourites and a few modern jives with some taking it to the dancefloor.

Joining her on stage was local man Jim Craw who got a big applause after singing some of his own favourites.

The annual event was provided by the community council thanks to year-round fundraising activities with donations from, and thanks to, local businesses and groups as well as a grant from Clackmannanshire Council.

Hats off also to Foz Sports as well as Bargains and Bites for cash donations; Clackmannan Primary School Parent Council for vouchers; Morrisons, BM's and Thistle Do Icely for raffle donations.

A pre-lunch dram was courtesy of Diageo and McCalpine.
