SENIOR members of the community in Tullibody were treated to a Christmas concert by local schoolchildren last week.

Pupils from P1 to P7 were all involved at the town’s Banchory Primary School when they hosted around 40 elderly people with a mix of festive songs, hot drinks and nibbles.

“It was great; it made their morning, I think”, proudly explained depute head David Kerr, who hopes the event will become an annual affair.

The concert took place on Thursday, December 13, and following on from two performances in front of families the day before.

It was a great variety of old classics and modern numbers which each class performing one traditional song and one of free choice.

Topping it all off at the end was a performance by staff: the school’s very own version of George Ezra’s song Shotgun.

The local version was written by Mr Kerr himself with the title Santa’s Sleigh and a recording of the performance has been making waves on social media.

Both pupils and staff had been putting a lot of effort in as the big day approached.

The depute head added: “They were fantastic, they sang their hearts out and we are very proud of them.”

He also gave a nod of thanks to Heather Longmuir, home school liaison officer, for organising the event for the seniors and for securing sponsors the Co-op, Scotmid, Asda and Tesco who provided nibbles.

Leftovers are being donated to the nearby Orchard Care Centre.
