SAUCHIE has been brightened up once again thanks to the valiant efforts of two men who have decorated a garden to the delight of the area.

Denis Hinchcliffe has given his home the festive treatment with a vast array of lights in order to bring a bit of cheer to the whole of Clackmannanshire.

The tradition started a number of years ago when Denis decided with his friend, John White, to start putting the lights up.

Scores of people began visiting from all over the Wee County just to see the decorations, which include reindeers and gnomes.

Denis told the Advertiser: "We always want people to come and see the lights. We start putting them up around October because there's a lot of work to do."

One year someone suggested they try and use it for further good by raising money for charity – which they duly did by setting up a donation box in the name of Strathcarron Hospice.

Two years ago they raised over £1,200 for the charity and will be hoping to smash that total this year.

Denis said it was amazing to see not just children, but men him and John's age bringing their grandchildren along.

Not only do they have lights, but there are also projectors which shine on to a window showing Santa working away every evening, leaving passing kids screaming in delight.

Denis' wife Elizabeth added: "Denis and John put in a huge amount of work to create Christmas cheer for anyone who cares to take a walk around the garden.

"With a bit of help from friends Colin Hunter and Hugh Ross, the resulting display is well worth a visit to get the full benefit of this 'good cheer' event.

"Santa's also there, busy in his workshop every evening and everyone is welcome."
