AN ALLOA man has been jailed for possession of drugs despite insisting that he was threatened in order to keep it.
Ryan Douglas was ordered to spend the next five months in prison when he appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday, December 20.
The offence came to light after police searched his Maple Court property on July 25 of 2017 and found cannabis in his living room, with a combined value of £1,390.
When interviewed by officers, Douglas told them "the intention was to use it himself".
Mr Soutter, defending, told the court that his client claimed to have been threatened and told to keep the drugs for another person.
However, Sheriff David Mackie intimated that Douglas had "exhausted" custodial alternatives.
He told him: "The report is not a good one. Being under duress is a consequence of getting involved in the drug trade."
Douglas was imprisoned for a period of five months.
