THERE was a great mix of traditional and popular modern Christmas songs at Clackmannan Primary School’s Christmas Extravaganza.

All the children were involved in two sell-out performances over Thursday and Friday, December 13 and 14, with singing, instruments and props on stage.

Makaton signing was also used throughout in a bid to make sure everyone is involved in the festive celebrations.

Parents and carers came out in numbers for both shows, which also saw a song titled Christmas at Clackmannan performed by staff as well as a grand finale with We Wish You a Merry Christmas – involving the whole school.

Headteacher Debra Laird said she could not have been more proud of the youngsters' efforts.

She told the Advertiser: “The children were wonderful. They always, always make their families and the teachers proud.”

“Also, it’s really important to us that everybody had the opportunity to perform on stage at Christmas time and every single child was able to do that, so we are really proud of that.”

The headteacher also thanked all families for “showing such good support”, the hard working adults as well as the support staff in the school.

This week, the youngsters were looking forward to singing their songs again, this time at Clackmannan Parish Church.
