AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into the death of a man at Longannet Power Station this week.
The tragic incident happened at around 2.45pm yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, February 6.
No more details have been made public, but it is believed the man, 55, was from Cowdenbeath.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called to Longannet Power Station in Kincardine around 14.45 on Wednesday, February 6, following reports of an accident.
"Sadly, a 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A joint investigation between Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive will be carried out in order to establish the full set of circumstances.”
Brown and Mason contractors are currently carrying out demolition work at the site.
Longannet, owned by Scottish Power, was Scotland's last coal-fired power station and was closed in 2016.
Demolition works began in November, but the process is not expected to be completed until 2021.
