A WEE COUNTY athlete has been selected to represent Great Britain at this year’s European Air Championships following a rigorous qualifying process.

Dollar's Seonaid McIntosh has been selected to represent her country in 10m air rifle senior women category as well as the 10m air rifle mixed event when the championships take place in Osijek, Croatia, next month.

Seonaid is one of only two Scots selected for the side, with Aeden Evans also drafted in for the championships.

These championships are the first major event of the 2019 competition calendar for rifle and pistol as the team continues its journey towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Great Britain have already achieved one quota place through Seonaid’s fantastic fourth place finish at last year’s World Championships in Changwon, Korea.

The European Shooting Confederation last year launched new style team finals in addition to the Olympic individual and Mixed Events in both senior and junior categories for both men and women and these are being repeated this year.

John Leighton Dyson, British Shooting performance director, said: "After a stern and demanding qualification and selection process, the team will comprise a mix of experience and youth.

"Kim Tzabach is a first timer at this level and shoots in both the individual and team rifle competitions alongside Hannah Pugsley and Seonaid McIntosh.

"Having made a final at the recent Munich airgun event in Germany and the current British Record holder, McIntosh will be hoping to build on her experience in the build-up to Tokyo.”
