A MAN was taken to hospital this morning following a fire at a Wee County house.

Emergency services raced to a property on Tillicoultry’s High Street after receiving a call just after 9am to say there was a fire.

Scottish Fire and Rescue sent two appliances which made the area safe after encountering the “small fire” within the property.

Police officers also dashed to the scene to assist with traffic management as the incident occurred at a busy time in the morning.

A man was also checked over at the scene before being taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital as a precaution, while police said the fire was not suspicious.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 9.44am on Wednesday, February 20 to reports of a dwelling fire in Tillicoultry.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire engines to High Street where firefighters extinguished the small fire within the property.

“One male casualty was assessed on scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service and thereafter transferred to hospital.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
