A CARICATURE workshop is coming to Alloa next week.

On Monday, March 11, Alloa Art Club will welcome artist Karen van de Graaf who will deliver a session for those who wish to practice their skills or just want to take pencil to paper for the first time.

Speaking from experience, Karen believes that "everyone can learn to draw simply by picking up a pencil and connecting it with paper".

She adds that, with practice, "the holder of the pencil will surprise themselves”.

Following a summer of sketching faces at the Kelpies and at the Edinburgh Fringe, she was thrilled when a portrait of hers was selected for a public exhibition at Paisley Museum.

Karen will be sharing her step-by-step approach to drawing faces at high speed, adding: “We’ll spend time discussing which features to observe closely.”

She will then explain how to bend features to produce caricature.

Current members and anyone interested are invited to book a place, the workshops opens at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start and will be held at Resonate Arts House with entry set at £5.

Paper will be provided, participants are asked to bring a board if possible as well as a soft pencil and or charcoal.
