A MAN was rushed to hospital following a car fire in Alloa on Sunday evening.

At around 6pm on Sunday March 13, it is believed police were about to pursue a vehicle when it crashed and burst into flames.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) rushed to the scene on Shetland Court, Alloa, where they worked to extinguish the blaze.

Police say they have charged one man with driving offences.

A statement from SFRS read: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 6.08pm on Sunday, March 17 to reports of a car fire in Alloa.

"Operations Control mobilised one fire engine to Shetland Court where firefighters extinguished the fire.

"One male casualty was taken to hospital for treatment. Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "A man has been charged with road traffic offences following this incident.

"We were called to the Riverside View area at around 6pm on Sunday. Fire service were also called to attend."
