AN ANNUAL employment event in Alloa last week saw more around 40 companies and organisations offer various opportunities to Wee County jobseekers.

Last Friday, March 15, saw MSP Keith Brown's Employment Fair at Alloa Town Hall with the local representative bringing under one roof employers from a range of sectors in a bid to address unemployment issues in Clackmannanshire.

The likes of Diageo, local councils, the Scottish Ambulance Service, the recently established Social Security Scotland government agency, Police Scotland, the three divisions of the armed forces and much more populated the hall with their information stalls on the day.

MSP Brown said: "This year's employment fair was extremely well attended - both from companies with vacancies and from those looking for work.

"There were more jobs on offer at this event than in previous years."

Indeed, many companies came with vacancies to be filled, while others were also offering apprenticeships, training opportunities or the chance to build valuable skills through volunteering.

The MSP added: "Events like these are valuable because they allow local people to engage directly with employers they might not otherwise have access to.

"I'd like to thank all the businesses who took part and wish those applying for positions the best of luck."
