AN ALLOA man has been slapped with over 200 hours of unpaid work for attacking another male during a violent altercation late last year.

Alan Black, 25, appeared in the dock for sentencing at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, March 14.

The charges state that on October 21 of last year, at an address in Alloa, he assaulted a man by striking him to the body and causing him to fall, then punched him to the body to his injury.

He also recklessly or wilfully damaged property belonging to another by throwing stones which smashed windows, and thereafter struck the windscreen of a motor vehicle, causing it to crack.

A third charge states that he became threatening or abusive by shouting, swearing and challenging other persons to fight.

Solicitor Adam Black, defending, told the court Black has unresolved anger issues which he has previously tried to deal with, adding: "It was a loss of control that has led to the commission of this offence."

He then asked the sheriff to take account of the fact that Black was assessed as being a "minimum risk" to the public when passing sentence.

Sheriff David Mackie said he was satisfied the matter could be dealt with through a community-based disposal.

He then handed Black, of Bank Street, a Community Payback Order with a nine-month supervision requirement.

Black will also be required to complete 220 hours of unpaid work within the same period, and pay £300 in compensation.
