AN ALLOA woman has credited her grandchildren for managing to lose an incredible five dress sizes in a year.

Carol Hislop has slimmed down after losing around three-and-half-stone – although she isn't finished just yet.

The Wee County woman joined Weight Watchers, now known as WW, in January 2018 to lose weight for her health and well-being after admitting she struggled to keep up with her young grandchildren.

Carol said: "At this point in my life I knew I had to lose weight not only for my health but also to feel fitter, healthier and happier and to able to run around after my two grandsons.

"I wanted to wear clothes I would like to wear rather than what would just cover me up."

The mum stepped into her WW workshop with apprehension, dreading what the scales would say and knowing her size 26 clothes were getting tight meaning she knew something had to change.

She continued: "I was very anxious about walking into the room, but everyone was so friendly and took time to speak to me and Moira, my wellness coach, was very welcoming and supportive, the whole group was so friendly and it was exactly what I was needing."

After realising that the plan was very flexible and that she could eat more of the right foods and still lose weight, Carol returned to her workshop and dropped a fantastic six pounds in the first week.

Carol added: "Going to my workshop each week is not just a weigh in its a chance to talk to other people in the same position as me, to discuss food, exercise and to make new friends.

"I now walk four miles once a week, swimming 50 lengths and joined a yoga class, things I wouldn't have done before.

"I have even worn a pair of skinny jeans for the first time ever and loved the positive comments I received from my friends and family. It is so amazing to hear such lovely comments."

With the weight loss only at the half way point, she is determined to reach her goal and has swapped out sweets for fruit to the point her colleagues ask if she is opening up a fruit shop.

Carol attends her WW workshop at Patons in Alloa on a Saturday morning with Wellness coach Moira Scoon.
