A WEE COUNTY politician will be running for charity at this month’s Alloa Half Marathon.

MP Luke Graham is set to raise funds for the local good cause Reachout with Arts in Mind by entering the race on Sunday, March 31.

He chose the charity, which provides creative opportunities to improve people’s wellbeing, following a visit to its North Castle Street venue.

Donations will help fund the redevelopment of the outdoor garden area which will assist in offering a wider range of support services and experiences.

Craig Machan, chair of the Reachout board, explained by saying: “Reachout with Arts in Mind during 2019 plan to start work on developing a Japanese garden project which will provide an invaluable open and safe space for our members.

“Members will be able take part in creating the space but equally benefit from being outside in the summer months engaging with nature.

“The charity would like to thank Luke for his support in running the Alloa Half Marathon and any contribution would be warmly welcomed.”

Last year the MP ran for Breathe Easy Clacks, the local British Lung Foundation support group, and smashed his £500 target, looking to do the same this year.

Mr Graham said: “I was really impressed by Reachout with Arts in Mind when I visited their site last year and was keen to support them by raising funds through the Alloa Half Marathon.

“We had great success last year and I hope to be able to provide the same level of support again for a fantastic local charity.

“I now look forward to racing on March 31.”
