OFFICERS in Forth Valley are investigating after a deer was found to have been killed by dogs in Alloa last month.
On Friday, March 29, a member of the public found a dead deer within a wooded area near to a cycle path in the east of the town.
The deer had been gutted and meat removed from the carcass.
Police seized the remains and a post mortem has now confirmed that the animal died as a result of a dog attack – an offence known as deer coursing.
Officers are continuing with their inquiries into this incident and would urge any members of the public who are aware of this activity in their local area, to report this to police as soon as possible.
The public are also asked to ensure dogs kept under control when out in the countryside and reminded it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure the animal is under control, especially around wildlife.
Deer coursing and other wildlife offences can be reported to Police Scotland via 101, or to Forth Valley’s Wildlife Officer PC Robertson.
In an emergency, always dial 999.
