THREE Wee County women have conquered MacTuff's Girls Big Dirty Day Out to raise money for a local nursery.

Morag Dunion, Nicola Beveridge and Alison Arnott took on the 4k obstacle course, at Falkirk's Callendar Park, on Saturday, May 4.

The event involved the three of them making their way through mud, cold water and foam, as well as going over walls and under nets.

In the process they raised around £800, which will go towards garden renovations for the nursery at Alloa's Park Primary School.

Speaking about why they decided to undertake the challenge, Morag, a nursery staff member, said: "We're always looking at ways to improve and develop the nursery and its surroundings to broaden the opportunities available to the children.

"Taking part in MacTuff was an amazing experience that everyone should try, [and] doing it knowing we were raising money to benefit the nursery and all the children who attend just made it even better.

"The support we have had from friends, family and nursery parents is fantastic.

"It's great to see people get behind such a good cause."

Alison, the chair of Park Family Team (the nursery's parent teacher association), told the Advertiser that despite being "very difficult", everyone made it across the course.

Thanks to their efforts, the trio have raised over £300 through JustGiving, and almost £400 from personal sponsors.

When asked how it felt to know they had raised so much, Alison said: "It's amazing.

"It's a huge amount, and it'll make such a difference for the nursery, they do a lot of outdoor learning."
