CLACKMANNAN Development Trust (CDT) are hosting a public meeting early next month to share details of their proposal to build a bunkhouse and outdoor activity centre within the town.

The group hope the proposal, if it comes to pass, would create jobs and economic growth locally, as well as providing long-term financial security for the trust itself.

It follows 12 months of research carried out by CDT into how they can successfully build on the community’s strengths to everyone’s advantage.

In March this year, they received funding to conduct a feasibility study and business plan for their proposal, and have since commissioned the Community Enterprise group to assist with this.

The upcoming meeting aims to give locals an opportunity to hear from members of CDT, as well as the managing director of Comrie Croft about his experience establishing a similar enterprise.

Lesley Shaw, a community development officer, said: “This is a really exciting time not only for CDT but the community as a whole.

“We hope to re-invent Clackmannan and Clackmannanshire as a place of activity and wellbeing that will allow people to explore the area, our heritage and scenery while supporting local businesses and stimulating economic growth.

“Our aim is that this enterprise will bring 15-20 jobs to Clackmannan, as well as providing training opportunities, improve health and wellbeing, create activity for families and young people and improve access/transport links.”

The public meeting will start at 7pm on Monday, June 3 in Clackmannan Town Hall. Refreshments will be provided.
