MUCKHART Golf Club had a wonderful turnout for their recent open day for women looking to get into the sport.

The event was organised by members of the club who wanted to see women head along regardless of experience or talent.

Rona Sarafilovic, one of the organisers, told the Advertiser the day went better than they expected.

She said: “We had a tremendous turn out - and the weather stayed mostly dry, until the last 20 minutes.

“We had 32 very enthusiastic ladies attend the event. We split them into three groups, which were putting, chipping and long game and an on course safari in the buggies which was hugely popular and fun.

“They then came in for a buffet and refreshments, and an overview of what we have to offer at our club. Almost every lady signed up for one or other of the introductory deals.”

On hand to assist with the ladies were 12 enthusiastic and much-needed volunteers who were representing the club for the night.

Rona added: “I was delighted by the positive response, as it makes it very worthwhile finding so many ladies keen to try a new sport.

“They will hopefully make new friends, get fit, enjoy the fresh air and stunning scenery here at Muckhart.

“We hope to build and develop this interest in getting into golf further over the coming months.”
