A WEE COUNTY beautician has been nominated for a trio of national awards, just one year on from winning second best salon in Scotland.

Sparkle by Elle has been shortlisted for Five Star Beauty Salon in Scotland, Five Star Nail Technician in Scotland and Five Star Nail Salon in Scotland awards by Creative Oceanic.

The business was founded by Elle Adams, who is no stranger to accolades, having been voted second best salon in Scotland last year.

Speaking to the Advertiser, she said she was delighted to be up for three awards this year.

She said: “This year, I didn’t put myself down for it so I didn’t expect it at all.

“Last year, I got second best in Scotland and I figured that was good enough but I’m pretty happy to be up for three finalist awards.

“I didn’t expect it at all but I’m over the moon.”

Elle founded Sparkle by Elle during the Covid lockdown and began offering nail appointments from her spare bedroom.

Her business soon expanded at a rapid rate, leading to her constructing a studio in the garden with the help of her dad.

“This year has been mad busy compared to last year,” Elle added. “The cost-of-living crisis doesn’t seem to be slowing people down.

“Everyone still seems to be coming for appointments and I’ve found myself working long hours so the demand is still there.

“I want to keep working on my business and get the word out.”

The finals will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow on October 15. Sparkle by Elle can be found on Facebook.
