KIDS around Clacks got the chance to spend the day with a storybook monster as the Gruffalo visited Tillicoultry.

The character with purple spikes, knobbly knees, turned out toes and warty nose visited Affinity Sterling Mills Tillicoultry as part of the 25th anniversary of the Gruffalo story.

The anniversary also coincided with 25 years of Sterling Mills Outlet Shopping Centre, calling for a double whammy of celebrations.

Over the weekend of April 6 and April 7, the Gruffalo posed with kids and families, and thoroughly entertained all the children.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Sterling Mills centre manager Nicola Martin reported that the event was a big hit.

She said: “We were delighted with the turnout at Affinity Sterling Mills outlet shopping centre for the Gruffalo.

“The event attracted visitors from far and wide. We ran an ASN session on the Saturday morning which was very much welcomed by the families that attended.

“The Gruffalo saw roughly 700 children over the two days which made for a great weekend for both the visitors and the shops alike.”

Affinity Sterling Mills is already looking forward to their next event, which will be Superhero Day on Monday, May 6, a bank holiday.

Nicola added: “We look forward to welcoming everyone back then.”
