The Leisure Bowl hosted a special fundraising session on Saturday (12 September) raising an impressive £3054 for the MS Society.

Ronnie Heslop organised MonSter Combat for the MS Society as his wife, Cara, lives with the condition.

The three hour Les Mills marathon included a Bodycombat session that was rounded off with Bodybalance.

Ronnie commented on Saturday: "Today was a blast, everyone seems to have enjoyed the day. An absolutely fantastic effort from everyone involved having raised somewhere in the region of £3000 so far.

"Thank you everyone on behalf of myself, Nikki, Tricia and of course the MS Trust."

The Leisure Bowl's very own Gym and Fitness Coordinator, Tricia McKenzie, said: "Awesome day! A huge amount raised for MS by a great bunch of people."

Tricia led the three hour session alongside the Peak’s instructor Nicola Leeks.

MS is a neurological condition that affects about 100,000 people in the UK.

Most diagnoses are made in people aged 20-40, but it can affect younger and older people too and around three times as many women have MS than men.

Bodycombat is a high energy combination of martial arts, delivering an intense non-contact work out.  Through a series of moves set to motivational music, you could burn up to 740 calories. From taekwondo to karate to Muay Thai this class is a perfect way to release stress. No experience is necessary; all that is required is your best fighter attitude. Why not check out this week’s Fitness Focus and try a Bodycombat class for yourself?
