CUILLIN Sound will be performing alongside vintage silent documentary movies depicting life in the Highlands and Islands during the 1920s and 1930s as part of the Music in Dollar season of concerts.

They will play in the Gibson Hall, Dollar Academy on Sunday, January 29, starting at 3pm. Doors open at 2.30pm.

Everyone is welcome, with tickets available on the door for just £10.

Music in Dollar is keen to encourage families to come to its concerts - so entry is completely free for anyone under 18 or in full-time education.

Cuillin Sound is a trio comprising the subtle and enchanting blend of flute, clarinet and bassoon. Their varied and extensive repertoire covers a wide range of music genres, from original works and arrangements of well-known classics, to traditional folk.

The concert will last about two hours, with wine and soft drinks served during the interval.

Cuillin Sound's performance will include 'Distant Lands' a trilogy of silent documentary movies showing life in the Highlands and Islands, including Eriskay - and St Kilda shortly before it was evacuated in August 1930.

Julian Reeves from Dollar Music Society said: "This combination of vintage film accompanied by live music is a first for Music in Dollar. It should be a fascinating concert and a very enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

"We're very grateful for the support we have received from Enterprise Music Scotland and our concert sponsor, estate agents, Henderson Roche. Together they make it possible for us to bring first-class musicians, right in the heart of our community – at a fraction of the cost it would usually be."
