REDWELL Primary School hosted a fun-filled May fayre and plant sale at the weekend.

There was something for all the family during the event on Saturday, May 6 which saw all ages turn out to show their support.

Taking full advantage of the great weather, Active Schools led the youngsters in some outdoor games.

There was a huge range of stalls – with 17 local businesses present – and lots of activities between 10.30am and 1pm.

Alison Scott, who sits on the parent council which organised the event, said: "We had a great turnout.

"It was obviously helped by the weather as well, but the turnout was fabulous – lots of kids, lots of parents."

On the day, there was plenty to keep the children entertained, with a bouncy castle, face-painting and candy-floss.

Thanks to a visit from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, they also had a great time trying out the siren in the fire engine.

The packed day, which raised money for the school, brought a few highlights.

Alison said: "It was actually just the kids faces – seeing how they were having fun on the bouncy castle, having fun out at the fire engine – that's what I thought was one of the best parts."

Along with arts and crafts tables, there was lots of cakes and home-baking for people to choose from.

Many who popped along went home with hanging baskets, while others tried their luck in the tombola or in the raffle.

The event raised around £2200 for the school and the money will help with a gym hall projector, amongst other things.

Alison wanted to give a thanks to all those who showed support by going along on the day or who volunteered, the teachers who attended and also her five fellow organisers.
