A DRIVER crashed into a bus stop just outside a Wee County school this week.

It was later in the afternoon, however, and no one was injured when the 65-year-old man behind the wheel of his white Vauxhall Vivaro lost control on Tullibody Road in Alloa.

It is understood he was heading in the direction of the town centre and collided with a plastic bollard and the bus stop shelter outside Lornshill Academy.

The road was closed for a short time following the incident on Thursday, June 29, and the careless driver was slapped with a fine.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Advertiser: “Police in Forth Valley were called to Tullibody Road in Alloa around 4.30pm on Thursday, June 29, following a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision.

“Around this time a white Vauxhall Vivaro lost control, damaging a plastic road bollard and bus stop.

“No injuries were reported, but the road was closed for a short time whilst the vehicle was recovered.

“A 65-year-old man was charged and issued with a fixed penalty ticket."
