THERE were smiles all around at a fun day organised by Iceland in Alloa at the weekend.

People turned out to see Paw Patrol characters, others tried their hand at the tombola, while some picked up a few treats on Saturday, August 12.

The event, held outside the store at Shillinghill, brought together a whole host of activities in the name of charity.

The supermarket – joining other outlets across the country – has been busy raising money to help tackle Alzheimer’s.

Tanith Dougall, talking shop rep in Alloa, organised the fundraiser alongside her supervisors Tracy Dougall and Martin Houston, and manager Keiron Norrie.

She said it went incredibly well and staff at the local store – along with their children – helped run the stalls on the day.

Tanith added: “Our fun day was amazing; the turnout was fantastic and the smiles it brought from the kids and adults was worth all the work done by everyone.

“It truly was an amazing day – we all had so much fun.

“The highlights for me personally were Paw Patrol – they were hilarious.

“Seeing everyone who helped bring their kids along; my niece Lottie and sons Kian and Matthew also came along to help.

“We are very grateful and happy to be part of the Alloa Iceland family.”

The family orientated event brought toys on the tombola, Yankee candles and more.

Gemma Roach offered some face-painting, while Gillian Smith manned the cake stall.

A raffle which offered a free photo-shoot, print and frame with photographer John Howie has raised £110.

In total, around £260 has been collected for the Alzheimer’s Society so far.

The charity endeavours will continue in store this week with lucky dip toys donated by Alloa BID, along with another raffle offering a prize from the hair salon Siskos.
