A WEE COUNTY youngster has been given a special gift.

Ollie Denney has received a special needs pushchair from the Alloa Round Table which will transform his day-to-day living.

The five-year-old has autism, difficulty communicating and also struggles with safety awareness.

This can make it a struggle for him to leave the house, as he often becomes scared and overwhelmed when out and about.

Mum Aileen had been saving up to buy a pushchair but, unbeknown to her, her brother Adam was working on something in the background.

He contacted the round table to see if they could help in any way, before surprising her with the “life-changing” item.

The gesture, Aileen said, brought “tears to her eyes” and has improved Ollie’s opportunities already.

They have been limited in what they could do over the seven-week summer holiday period.

But, since being given the pushchair on Friday, August 18 the pair have been able to take a trip to Culross.

While there, they even stumbled upon a fun day which Ollie was able to enjoy.

Aileen, 36, said: “It does make a massive difference for us – just daily tasks will be easier for us.

“It will make a huge difference to Ollie because when he gets upset he can got into the buggy.”

For the youngster, who can walk, the pushchair will provide a comfort zone for when his surroundings become too much.

Adam had been motivated to contact the round table in a bid to make things a little easier for Aileen.

He said he wrote to them and is incredibly grateful to the local organisation for their positive response.

He added: “I really would like the county to know how much the round table has changed my sister and nephew’s life going forward.

“Freedom to go for a walk with her son when the weather is nice, taking him to the park.

“A walk along the beach, or just a trip to the shop to buy a loaf of bread.

“Little daily tasks that you and I take for granted. But she has been unable to do for Ollie’s whole life but can now.

“There isn’t enough words to express my thanks to the round table members – the work you do for others is amazing.”

Aileen added: “A massive thank you to the Alloa Round Table and a thank you to my brother as well.”
