WEE County families can discover the hibernating creatures at RSPB Scotland's Black Devon Wetlands.

Head along to an event later this month to get involved in giving nature a home, by making ‘toad abodes’ and ‘frogitats’ for some of the resident amphibians.

Also find out why some animals want to sleep all winter during Happy Hibernators, which will take place on Saturday, October 28, 10am-12pm, entry is £3 for children and free for adults.

Ami Kirkbright, RSPB’s Futurescapes assistant, said: "Autumn is a lovely time of year, the migratory birds are starting to come back and although the breading season is over, the hustle and bustle of the wintering frenzy is an amazing sight, especially on our wetlands.

"But we mustn’t forget about the animals we can’t see through these months, such as our resident frogs, toads and mini-beasts, who are all hibernating from the cold.

"I would love some help on the reserve to make them a special winter home for those cold days ahead."
