The Bobbing John – on 46 Drysdale Street – is expected to unlock its doors to the Wee County on Tuesday 25 March 2014.

Building work on the pub will begin on Monday (2 December).

Wetherspoon chief executive, John Hutson, said, “We are looking forward to opening our new pub in Alloa and believe that it will appeal to a wide range of people and also be an asset to the town.

“Hopefully it will also act as a catalyst for other businesses to invest in the town.”

The development represents an investment of more than £1 million and approximately 40-45 jobs – a mixture of part-time and full-time – will be created in the process.

The unit, which was once a Poundland store, will be transformed into a traditional pub and all day dining facility.
