STAFF at Alloa Jobcentre were sporting a wide array of headwear, as they took part in the national Wear A Hat Day.
They participated in the event – organised by Brain Tumour Research – on Friday 28 March and combined it with some fantastic fundraising activities.
A silent auction was carried out in the office which saw employees take in donations and unwanted gifts – generating some fierce competition and fun.
Pauline Meldrum, employer advisor, said, “We decided to participate in this fundraising event as a colleague of ours was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year and has undergone an operation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
“We are all so proud of the way she coped with this and is doing well now and felt we wanted to do something in her honour and to support the charity.” An invitation was also extended to nearby Jobcentres in Stirling, Falkirk and Grangemouth.
The Clackmannanshire branch raised around £300 through hat wearing and the auction, with the total for all four offices standing at around £600.
Wear A Hat Day is an awareness-raising campaign run throughout March, which is National Brain Tumour Awareness Month.
