MSP Keith Brown welcomed Asda Alloa’s community life champion, Kirsty McCormack, and new store manager, Kevin McPhee, to the Scottish Parliament last week.

They attended a reception organised to give MSPs the opportunity to learn more about Asda’s award-winning Community Life Programme and to meet the community life champions from their local stores and from across Scotland.

Keith, Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP, said, “It was great to welcome both Kirsty and Kevin to the parliament.

“Asda’s community life initiative is a fantastic example of how big businesses are changing the way they interact with the communities they serve and giving something back.

“In Alloa community life is championed by Kirsty McCormack who has played an important role in making the scheme such a success. She has worked alongside many local organisations and charities to help them raise funds and often volunteers her time to help out.

“Her efforts were recently recognised locally when she came runner-up in Clackmannanshire’s Young Citizen of the Year award which just demonstrates how much the work she does is valued.

“I know Kirsty is working hard on future community life events and I am sure that community life will continue to make a difference in Clackmannanshire.”
