A FORMER Alloa actor is rubbing shoulders with Sofie Gråbøl, star of Danish TV series The Killing, in a new trilogy of plays at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Sarah Higgins, who recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, is appearing in the new works about James I, II and III of Scotland, written by award-winning playwright Rona Munro and directed by Laurie Sansom, Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Scotland.

The Stirling actor has previously performed with the Alman Dramatic Club, based at the Coach House Theatre in Inglewood, Alloa.

James I: The Key Will Keep The Lock, James II: Day of the Innocents, and James III: The True Mirror at the Festival Theatre in the capital bring to life three generations of Stewart Kings who ruled Scotland in the tumultuous 15th century.
