A CLACKMANNANSHIRE craft group that provides workshops for people who suffer from chronic pain is holding an open day this week.

Members of Craft2Distract, which runs sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays as a form of pain management, will be on hand to discuss the benefits of the classes on Friday (31 October).

Lilian Moir, who runs the group said: “I started the group Craft2Distract in an effort to help others whose lives have changed due to chronic pain.

“Having suffered chronic pain for over 10 years I totally understand all problems faced by fellow sufferers. I can no longer take an active part in the sort of activities I previously enjoyed.

“I attended a pain management clinic to learn how to cope with the pain but it wasn’t till I joined a card making group that I found some relief.

“It isn’t a cure but has become part of my pain management. I have a reason to get up in the morning and I am now part of a social circle making new friends and improving my health and well-being.” MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, Keith Brown, who will be attending the open day, said: “Chronic pain can be distressing and very difficult to deal with and effective management can make a huge difference.

“I would encourage any of my constituents suffering from chronic pain to consider attending Craft2Distract’s open day to see if the services on offer could be of benefit to them.” Craft2Distract is based in Glasshouse Loan, the open day will start at 10.30am, and a free craft pack will be available.
