Last Friday evening, residents gathered at Resonate in Alloa for the AGM of the Alloa Park Residents Association (APRA).

The meeting, chaired by Gary Richardson, gave an overview presentation of the work achieved to date for everyone who lives within the community.

This included the considerable efforts by many to ensure that green areas are safe for children and fit for people to enjoy.

Gary said: “We did a clear-up over two main areas alongside the main pavements and tracks through the woods, we collected over six hundred dog fouls, lengths of cable, metal pieces and many glass bottles that had been dumped and in the end we had dozens of bags of waste to take away.

“The efforts of residents to make this a better place to live is excellent and there is growing goodwill to make sure we keep Alloa Park a clean and safe place to live.” Also attending the meeting was the vice chair of the Alloa Community Council, Simon Karner, who discussed forward connections and potential funding opportunities that may support the residents’ endeavours to complete remedial works.

He explained: “Attending the APRA AGM this evening is very important. As a community council we want to ensure that we understand the needs of our community and represent them when meeting with Clackmannanshire Council and other organisations that support our county.

“We are also working hard to grow the network, so that when we know of a group that may have skills which will support the work of another organisation, we can connect them and help develop their projects.” During the meeting, the committee all stood down, as required by the memorandum and articles of association, and then voting took place for a new volunteer board to be elected.
