WOMEN for Independence (WFI) Clacks, Yes Clacks and Radical Independence Campaign (RIC) are working to try to make sure Christmas is magical for everyone this year.

The groups say the festive season should be about joy and celebration, rather than huge financial pressures for families who want to make it special for their kids. They have opened a Yes to Christmas children’s pop-up ‘bring and buy’ shop at the Yes Hub, on Coalgate in Alloa.

Convenor of WFI, Susan Fraser, said: “While independence is still our aim as the most effective way to greater social justice, we also have an ongoing commitment to positive action within our own communities.

“We are looking for donations of new and pre-loved toys, children’s clothes, and any kids’ items at all.” Items can be purchased at the Yes Hub shop for a donation, according to what people can afford, and profits will be donated to The Gate Foodbank and Sauchie Activ8 Foodbank.

All donations will be gratefully accepted at the shop from Saturday (29 November) and a grand opening will take place on Monday 1 December, with the store open until Wednesday 24 December.
