Clackmannanshire Women for Independence will be hosting an event this Friday (12 December) with journalist and broadcaster Lesley Riddoch in Alloa.

Lesley will be at the group’s Children Christmas Store, located at 1 Coalgate, from 6pm in the evening where guests will have a chance to grab a signed copy of the new edition of her book Blossom: What Scotland Needs to Flourish.

From 7pm Lesley will be giving a talk followed by a discussion about the issues raised in her book including local democracy and control over local issues, the land reform and what it could mean for the people of Scotland and current plans to allow shale gas to be extracted beneath people’s homes and lands.

The occasion marks the launch of Clacks WFI Book Group, the organisers hope to encourage all women to get involved on creating a better Scotland.

Donations to the Children’s Store are also welcome – they are distributed on a “pay what you can” basis for families to help everyone have a happy Christmas and proceeds go to The Gate and Sauchie food banks.

Tickets and a contribution to refreshments is required to attend the talk. To print a ticket visit www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/clacks-women4independence-tickets-14807031229.
