TWO men have appeared in court charged with carrying out a brutal assault in Alloa town centre A 33-year-old man from Alloa and a 29-year-old from Glasgow pleaded not guilty when they appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (19 January).

They are accused of assaulting two others – a male and female – with a metal pole on 21 July 2013.

The Alloa man is charged with possession of an offensive weapon on the town’s Mill Street and using it to repeatedly strike a man to the body and punching him on the head, all to his injury.

He is also accused of assaulting a female by repeatedly striking her to the body with the pole.

The Glasgow man has also been charged with possession of the weapon on the town’s High Street and with head butting the male, repeatedly striking him with pole, and knocking him to the ground, all to his injury.
