THE Scottish Cabinet will meet in Alloa next week.

First minister Nicola Sturgeon recently announced cabinet meetings will be held regularly in towns and cities across Scotland, with the local event allowing people to raise issues directly with her and her top team.

As part of the meetings there will be the chance for ministers to get a real insight into the issues affecting the area and a discussion where the public are invited to quiz the cabinet and give their views.

The first minister said: “The government I lead intends to be open, listening, and available in a way we have not seen before – in short, the most open and accessible government that Scotland has ever had.

“That is why we are making sure that the business of government is open to everyone who wants to be involved, and why we are taking cabinet meetings to all parts of the country. I’m hugely looking forward to meeting up with members of the public and hearing their views when we come to Alloa early next month – and those views will not only be heard, but will also result in real action.

“Our strongest focus is on growing our economy, protecting public services, tackling inequality and empowering our communities. But we must be united in the business of making Scotland a better place to live and work. Together we can build a fairer and more prosperous country.

“If you are in Alloa and you want to raise an issue, have something you would like us to see or to have a chat with a minister following the public discussion then get in touch through @scotgovFM using #alloacab, our Facebook page or give us a call.” The cabinet will be in the Wee County on Monday (2 March) with the public discussion due to take place in Alloa Ludgate Church.
